Welcome to the 3rd Edition of The 1,000KM Challenge! 177 days / 6 months, a minimum of 500km! Are you up for the challenge?

In 2nd Edition, we had 3 different categories - 500km, 1000km and 2000km to cater for the different level of running, participants may enrol into the challenge based on their capability, and upgrade as and when they feel they are ready to take up something more challenging.

However, things often did not turn out to be what we have expected...In view of this, this edition we will revert back the challenge similar to the 1st edition, i.e.: with only 1 category to enrol, but different rewards for different mileage completed.

Furthermore, as part of our tradition, we will slightly increase the difficulty for this 3rd edition, some new rules will be implemented, amongst them are:

  • Activities Submission Timeframe - From 2 weeks to 1 week / 7 days
  • Unjustified Activities - without GPS map support, it will not be accepted and included as part of your total mileage.
  • Any rules we deemed it is necessary to implement to avoid conflict and cheating.

    1. Activity submission:


    • You are required to submit your GPS links / Screenshots through the Activities Submission Form. Details such as "Map", "Split time", "Elapse time", "graphs" is compulsary.
    • Your activities privacy settings must either set as "Public" or "Viewable by friends/connection"(add Pasem account as friend)
    • Non-workout / non-outdoor related activities will be deemed invalid, such as walking during working hours and also inside the shopping mall.
    • For treadmill workout, you need to record the acitvity using your device with "indoor tracking" mode. Photo taking of treadmill activity will be deemed invalid.
    • Upon submitted, your submitted activities will appear on section "Check Submission status"(password needed), along with the status below:
      Verification status
      Verified activity is verified, will reflect to your total mileage soon.
      Duplicated duplicated activity, won't count toward your total mileage.
      Rejected activity is rejected with a reason, won't count toward your total mileage.
      Link issue unable to open/access the link submitted, you need to resubmit or provide us the correct link.
      Privacy issue We do not have privileage to view/access your activity.

    2. The MINIMUM distance of each activity:

      Treadmill/indoor run 5KM (Before 40% deduction)

    3. Team UP~!!:


    • You can form a team with other participants and take the challenge together.
    • you need a MINIMUM of 2 runners to form team.
    • Team UP is free of charge!.
    • You can have as much as 10 runners in one same team.
    • Each participant can only have ONE team.
    • Once the team is formed, you can always add new members in, but you can't remove member under any circumstances.
    • in the event of your team member are unable to continue, the rest of the team member will have to cover up the splits for him/her...in short = team spirits~
    • team rankings are determine by team points...top 3 teams will received a special gift from the organiser.
    • Team points calculation:
      Team of 2 persons Team points = Total team mileage / 2
      Team of 10 persons Team points = Total team mileage / 10

    4. The Challenge:


    • This is a 6 months/177days challenge...
    • Participants who are unable to complete the challenge within the stipulated period are considered DNF (Did Not Finish).
    • There is no "withdraw from event" option...you will automatically DNF once you fulfilled the condition above, in other words, it is entirely up to you to stop or continue to progress.
    • The minimum distance for reward/gift is 500km within 6 months / 177days.
    • There are 3 types of competition in T1KC every participant can compete for, you may refer to below table for more information:

      mileage counting:
      The Fastest Your fastest mileage will start counting from the 1st activity after your registration date/time, this way every participant will be on the same starting line:
      • for example: Ahmad:
      • Registration Date/time: 0800am 01012018
      • 1st activity Date/time: 0600am 01012018 5km
      • 2nd activity Date/time: 1700pm 01012018 15km
      • Ahmad's Fastest mileage will be start counting from 2nd activity: 15km
      The Farthest
      • All your activities from 1st day until the last day of the event will be counted.
      Team UP
      • Total mileage from all team members / (number of team members)
      • The highest Team points win the game.

    5. The rest:


    • We will not disclose your GPS link on ranking page if you opted not to disclose your link.
    • (for Male category only) your link will be disclosed if you fall into the TOP 5 ranking position.If you insist on being remained as private, we will deemed you are not interested in being competitive and you will not be entitled to any TOP prizes.
    • Finisher's entitlement will send via PosLaju courier service upon event finish. You should be able to receive your entitlement around 7 to 14 days (within Malaysia), it might take longer for international courier.
    • For those who wish to collect your finishing goodies manually from us in Klang Valley/Penang area, please refer to the Event information tab.
    • The Organizer reserved the right to implement new rules if the certain activity(ies) is/are found to be abusing the loopholes of the event T&C or taking advantages at the expense of other participants, the announcement will be made together with the effective date of such new rules.
    • For those who opted for courier, please make sure you provided the correct address / address format, any bounce back parcel with incomplete / wrong address will be keep inside our store room until the correct address is provided...a RM5 will be charge as admin fee for the resend of your bounce back parcel.

    4. Please also ensure the activity's privacy setting is not set as private only.

    How to get GPS Link (Smartphone)

    1. Click on the "Share" icon

    If you preferred to remain private, please at least add us "PASEM T1KC" and select the privacy level as viewable by "Friends" only, Otherwise, we will not able to access your activities and verify all the data.

    IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have changed your privacy from "Only Me" to "Everyone", this changes will only apply to your future activities.
    To reflect the changes of those activities before you change your setting, please go to each individual activity, click setting and update the GPS map to be "Viewable by Everyone".

    Nike+

    Nike+ do not have a share/export activity link feature, also it doesn't have way to make your activities publicly viewable by outsiders...in view of this, we have 3 suggestions for all participant that using Nike+, depending on whichever your preference:


    1. Switch your running app to other popular apps such as Strava.
    2. Screenshot all your activity details and upload them via our Image upload submission form.
    3. sync your Nike+ activity to Smashrun and sync to Strava(or your prefered apps), and submit the link instead

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    Registration

    Refunds or bib transfer?
    No, this is not allowed under any circumstances.

    Sell or give your entry to another participant?
    No, this is not allowed under any circumstances. If we identify someone who has given their entry to another person, it will result in disqualification and risk of a ban from our future events.

    I registered later than the flag-off date (17/03/2018), can I still submit my previous workout?
    Yes, you can! as long as it is within the event period.

    The Challenge

    Why 177 days?
    As long as it is a walking workout, YES! However, walking inside shopping mall OR walking in office during working hour will not be accepted.

    Can I walk instead of run?
    As long as it is a walking workout, YES! However, walking inside shopping mall OR walking in office during working hour will not be accepted.

    Can I submit my treadmill workout activity?
    We encourage outdoor activity, however, we will try accepting treadmill workout at its 60% of the total distance in 2nd edition.

    * Photo of a treadmill, treadmill activity that manually created entry into running application will not be accepted.

    how about trail workout?
    In this edition, trail workout will have a 40% bonus compare to normal workout, due to it is by natural harder and slower.

    How far average per day I need to run for the challenge?
    1,000km/177days = 5.6km per day.

    What if I get injured during the event?
    Injury prevention is part of the challenge, please take good care of your own safety and always listen to your body.

    What if I wanted to do more than 1000km?
    Please carry on, there are some special reward for you if you can make it to Top highest mileage participants.

    I submitted my GPS Link, but my total mileage is not updated instantly.
    We normally do batch verification first, and then we will process the batch at once for them to reflect on the ranking page.

    I submitted my GPS Link and it was rejected, how do I get inform of that?
    You can check your submission status/history and the reason of your activities being rejected using the Check Submission history feature under the "Activity submission" tab.

    If we found abnormal data in the activity, such as finishing a Full Marathon faster than the world record, we will deem it invalid and reject it directly. However, runner May appeal by providing proof to the organizer.

    What if the weather is super bad, such as haze?
    Depends on how bad it is, we might have different decisions, such as extending the event period to allow a buffer for all participants.

    Does this event have #Hashtag?
    Of course! Please post with the hashtag #T1KC. Use it on all social media platforms so everyone can find your updates, during and after the event!

    GPS Link Submission

    Where to locate my GPS activity link using PC/laptop?
    From your GPS activity page, copy the whole URL (http://www.abc.com/...) from your internet browser and paste it into the GPS submission form.

    How do I get my GPS activity link using Smartphone app?
    From your GPS activity page, look for the "share" button, click on it and see if you can find "Copy Link" or "Copy to clipboard", select it and paste the link into the GPS submission form.

    I am using Nike+ Running, it doesn't have copy link feature, and even if I share to FB, it doesn't have a link to copy, so how?
    In this case:

    1. Screen capture all your workout details in the Nike+ app and submit to us through the image upload submission form.
    2. Try sync your Nike+ activity to Strava, and then submit to us the Strava links through the submission form.
    3. Switch over to other running apps then provide link copy feature.

      What if my Smartphone app can only share on social media?
      In this case:

      1. You can share to Facebook first, and submit to us the Facebook URL through submission form, The Organizer must be given the rights to access and verify the activity.
      2. Try to sync your activity to Strava, and then submit to us the Strava links through the submission form.
      3. Switch over to other running apps then provide link copy feature.

        How many links could I submit at once?
        Maximum 3 for each submission.

        Do I have a timeframe for submission?
        Please submit your GPS link within 1 week / 7 days. Any activities submitted after 1 week may be deemed invalid and not contributed into the total mileage.

        Can I submit my race result from the running event's ranking page?
        Yes, we only accept event race result, As long as you have a valid proof on their ranking page URL. (Bib Number and Name as per your registration)

        I have completed a 100km Ultramarathon, but my GPS watch runs out of battery during 80kms, how?
        Yes, same as above scenario we accept race event result, As long as you have a valid proof on the ranking page URL. (Bib Number and Name as per your registration)

        Can I submit my race result from the running event's ranking page?
        Same as the above scenario, we recognize any event result. Submit to us the relevant documents for verification purpose.

        Form a Team

        Can I form a team with my friend and take up the challenge together?
        Yes, you can, provide that your friend has also enrolled into the event, and doesn't have a team yet.

        What is the finishing condition for a team of 2 members?
        reaching 1000 team points.

        How about a team of 3 members?
        reaching 1500 team points.

        How is team winner determined in T1KC?
        The top 3 highest team points will be the winners.

        Can I request to change my team members?
        You can add new members into your team, but you cannot remove any members from your team.

        What happens if I did not finish my individual category, but my team does?
        You are considered as "Finisher" as your team has completed the minimum distance for every team member to be qualified as "Finisher", but you are DNF for your individual category.

        General Safety Tips

        Do not wear headset
        Be aware of your surroundings. Your ears may help you avoid dangers your eyes may miss.

        Run against traffic
        You will be able to react quicker than if the traffic is behind you.

        Look both ways before crossing the road
        Stay alerted!

        Carry a phone with you
        Useful if you need to call for help.

        Vary your running route
        Run in familiar areas if possible. In unfamiliar areas, such as traveling, know where open businesses or stores are located in case of emergency.

        Leave a word on the location you run
        Tell your friends and family of your running routes.

        Run with a partner
        Especially for female runners.

        Wear reflective material
        Especially when you need to run after dark.

        Team UP!

        You can form a team with other participants, with the maximum of 10 participants in a Team and face the challenge together. 


        There will be no additional charges, all you need is:

          1. To enroll in the 1000km Challenge - 3RD Edition.

          2. Ensure your team member is not with any team yet.

          3. Think of a unique team name.

          4. Top teams will receive a special gift of appreciation from the organizer.

          5. You can add new members in until the maximum of 10, but you cannot remove any member once added.

        • If you submit it at 3:01pm 02042018, your streak will reset to 1(if your submission is 5km or above), or reset to 0. (if your submission is less than 5km)
